The springtime festival is coming back to BCN with a great artist line up including musical reunions, festival regulars, and talented newcomers. Cristina Jiménez

It’s time to shed the many layers from a lengthy winter and dust off prettier frocks. To celebrate, the first major music festival of the season will help us move those weary bones and come out of hibernation.

Primavera Sound is going strong at year 10. “If you do a festival, it’s best to grow slowly, over time. That way it will be around for many years, just look at the British ones. So, that’s what we hope to keep doing with Primavera Sound,” says Primavera’s Abel Suárez. This year, the organizers are offering two much-anticipated musical reunions: Pavement and Sunny Day Real Estate, along with bands marking the highlights in the festival’s history: the Pixies and Wilco. The Pet Shop Boys, Orbital, Marc Almond, Gary Numan, Panda Bear and Built To Spill are some past favorites coming to entertain, alongside talented newcomers The xx and Best Coast. With a potent spring friskiness in the air, the groups may also offer amusement off the stage. As Abel adds, “In past years, some of the artists decided that swimming in the port between the boats was OK, something we don’t really think is healthy”—probably not. CJ
