Born in Mallorca in ‘67, Rafel Bestard holds a list of acclaimed exhibitions, countless awards and publications. His latest work set to show at Galeria Contrast achieves a stunning combination of the appearance and texture of photography, within dense and atmospheric paintings. Capturing a world of dreams and nightmares, teasing between the vulgar and sublime, his visual imagery took shape in the 70s. Rafel finds looking for pre-determined themes mostly ineffective and instead prefers to get lost in his ideas. It is difficult to explain the poetic mix his paintings possess. One thing is certain, they are sure to provoke a range of emotions in the viewer.
