Authentic Latin drink spot offering FREE dance lessons.

Drawing in locals, Latinos and tourists alike, this intimate spot in the center of the Gothic quarter buzzes every night with a mixed crowd looking to enjoy sinful cocktails and an authentic Latin vibe.

Shangó

2 Groc, Barcelona, Catalonia, 08002

662 10 51 65

Sun-Thurs 9pm-2.30am, Fri-Sat 9pm-3am.

Filled with afro Latin rhythms and humming with a lively atmosphere, it’d be near enough impossible not to have a good time in this fun, friendly bar. Using an original Cuban recipe, their mojitos are the house specialty and a firm favorite at only €4.50 a pop, though the venue also boasts an incredibly wide range of rums from Cuba, Venezuela, Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic. Aguardiente Antioqueño and the famous Columbian Cerveza Aguila are also on offer, providing a taste of home to some clients and a taste of the exotic to others.

Open every night of the week, Shangó is flooded on Tuesdays and Wednesdays when it offers free Salsa lessons from 11pm to midnight. Welcoming anybody looking to have a good time and learn some moves, these lessons are lively, unintimidating and led by friendly instructors who provide smiles and guidance as their pupils stumble and laugh through the steps. Most dancers stick around after the class to burn off those cubatas, mingle with friends and continue dancing to an eclectic mix of merengue and cubano son. Shangó also screens sports, and will no doubt serve as a great venue in which to watch the World Cup matches this summer—keep up to date with the schedule at twitter.com/shangobar.
