Stush&Teng
Barcelona's first and finest Jamaican eatery.

From the name, which translates to the ‘best of everything’, to the freshest of ingredients, exclusive cutlery and glassware, plush seating, and even mini-TV screens in the bathrooms offering rolled handtowels, this Jamaican joint might not only be the best rep for the country’s cooking, but one of the finest eateries Eixample has to offer.

Lincoln and his cousin Andrew from Rocky Point Jamaica opened the welcoming and modern Jamaican spot – Spain’s first – to give those craving stimulating Caribbean spices a place to sit down and enjoy a full-on Jamaican meal. These small, filling portions include such intense and hard to find flavors as black salt, black sugar, sweet mango and ginger.

Start the day off with a hearty Jamaican breakfast including sole fish and spicy baked beans or go light with the continental including their homemade muffins and croissants and some rich Blue Mountain coffee. The €14.50 lunch menu includes a starter, main course, dessert, wine, water, bread, coffee or tea and tax, no hidden charges there. Sample the sweet and savory mushroom and cashew salad or the creamy fresh vegetable soup. For the main course try the yummy mackerel with mango, black salt and light and buttery brown rice. The mango crumble and coconut dessert are both equally divine to finish.

Customers that return will find surprises as the restaurant’s six menus rotate daily, making it possible to sample several Caribbean delights during the week. For Valentine’s Day their special menu at €35 per person will have choices like black pasta with aphrodisiac scallops and truffles and monkfish on spiced bread with toasted foie.

With sublime Reggae in constant rotation, it won’t be difficult to convince male companions to frequent the locale on the passionate date. Another Stush & Teng superlative is the outstanding service. The multinational and -lingual staff ensures that no one waits around and has the uncanny ability to anticipate needs. No attention to detail spared, they even have a hidden screen that lowers from the ceiling and can be used for everything from watching sporting events, to projecting a PowerPoint presentation for a high-powered lunch with style.

Not to mention it is one of the few, if not the only completely non-smoking locale in Eixample. After all as Andrew says, “You want to taste the food, not the smoke.” They also mix up cocktails that are so pretty it hurts to spoil them by taking a sip, so quickly refill. With the open-minded and warm spirit of the Caribbean, breakfast, lunch and dinner delicacies that awaken the taste buds, and impeccable décor with snug seating, it is hard to leave.
