While most have already BCN for the month of August, the party in the Ciutat Comtal shows no signs of slowing down.

Every August, there is a mass exodus from Barcelona as locals pack up their things and head for the hills, beaches or islands. There are those dedicated few who stay behind and endeavour to keep the city’s nightlife breathing, pulsating and offering those party-seeking tourists or stranded denizens an opportunity to let their hair down.

One such club is City Hall, one of Barcelona's most established and well-known clubs. Located just off Plaza Catalunya, its been helping people party every night of the week for years. Consisting of two rooms, the intimate Prive room at street level and the main room downstairs, two outdoor terraces and four bars, the decor in the main room - long red velvet curtains, soft lighting and a stage - hark back to the building's previous incarnation as Teatro Barcelona.

Key to the club's success is its range of appeal. Every night offers something different. On Wednesdays it’s Pigs ‘n’ Diamonds with 80s and rock ‘n’ roll on the decks and electronic tracks upstairs. Thursday nights are hosted by Club 4 residents Paco Osuna, Lester and Marco Carola who have put on some of the best techno parties this side of Berlin. Silver City on Friday nights offers house music in the main room, while upstairs partygoers can dance to a diverse set of rock and new wave. Saturday night continues the party with Pure City Nights and the traditional tech house that City Hall is known for from resident DJ Gustavo Lopez, who is occasionally joined by his bro, Junior from electronic label Aktivism Recordings.

If it all gets a bit too much, remember you can nip out to the open-air terrace for a breather and a cocktail. So not to fear this August, City Hall is one club that won't be sleeping.
