The artist the press has described as “silly, sexy and subversive” explores the experience of being a woman as well as challenges stereotypical gender tropes in her works. “Pour Your Body Out”, a 7,354 cubic meter audiovisual installation from 2008-2009, injected the mighty masculine atrium of New York’s Museum of Modern Art (MOMA) with an abundance of pink-colored femininity. Rist comes to Barcelona as the recipient of the 2009 Joan Miró Prize, a monetary award sponsored by the Fundació Caixa Girona to promote culture and the arts. A member of the jury for the prize cited the New York exhibit as one of the reasons for deciding to honor the quirky Swiss miss.
