The New Yorker essayist is back with another book full of off-beat essays so good you won't want it to end. Carey Zamarriego

The frequent New Yorker magazine essayist has made a living offering the world his offbeat commentary on a variety of subjects. Just get in line to meet the peculiar writer at one of his book signings. You will fill out a Post-it for the words to include in the dedication. However, once face to face with Sedaris, Post-its are put aside. Instead, after a brief chat the tireless observer will write down a few anecdotes of his own, sometimes even accompanied by an odd doodle or two. In his latest collection of essays Sedaris turns mundane activities like grocery shopping into acts of hilarity that leave readers bent over in pain from laughter. He talks about the embarrassing things that can come to pass after ditching language lessons while living in a foreign country, curious habits of New York rats, fashion faux pas, and an uncomfortable situation resulting from a Thrift Store purchase. Overall, it is an entertaining read — perfect for those days spent at home waiting out the rainstorms this time of year.
