Summer is ‘round the corner and any self-respecting fashionista should be thinking seriously about making some seasonal eyewear decisions. Heading to the beach, leaving clubs and terrace lunches – they all require one essential mainstay: some seriously hot sunglasses. If you’re on the hunt for something to make you stand out from the crowd, you’d do well to head to Wilde Vintage, the postage stamp-sized shades shop in the heart of Raval.

Wilde Vintage

2 Joaquín Costa, Barcelona, Catalonia

Wilde Vintage is owned by Cao Azuaje and it is safe to say that he is passionate about sunglasses. He explains that he has been collecting vintage glasses for over 18 years. What began as a personal collection soon grew to the point where he was offering his finds to family and friends. Cao finally decided to open a shop, an opportunity to share his discoveries with the world.

The shop is piled high with collectible pieces from a whole range of decades and fashion houses. Wilde Vintage’s sunglasses are an investment; most come in at around €100. But they are unique, special and individually sourced. Wanna look like the don? Try some original 70s Playboy frames. Channelling 80s Miami? The Carrera and Dunhills tick plenty of boxes.

Wilde Vintage has gained such a strong and specialist reputation, Cao now designs his own range of designer shades. The collection is called Oscar and takes inspiration from the vintage models while giving them a contemporary edge. If you can’t make it to the shop, check out the Wilde online store.
