Raya Sader Bujana is a Lebanese/Venezuelan creative who works in the medium of paper art. Rather than folding the material in the origami fashion, paper artists manipulate sheets of paper in order to create figurative or more abstract pieces.

Raya – or Little Ray of Sunflower, to her 22k-plus Instagram followers – practices the latter. Previous projects have included rendering Olympians from layered sheets of white paper, creating a contour effect; joining colored cuts to create playful recreations of foods; flowers, an analog camera, even a detailed portion fish and chips: wrapped, of course, in newspaper.

Her show at Casa Camper is a selection of intricate pieces inspired by nature, bold and instantly recognizable works whose details are so ornate that very close inspection is required to appreciate the patience and unfaltering way that the artist has with a scalpel.
