Ever considered what heaven is like? It is, of course, many things to many people. But there’s a good argument that it just might be Barcelona on a rooftop as the sun sets. Whether you’re lucky enough to have your own terrace or not, there’s a lot to be said for heading to one where the cocktails come ready mixed and the music comes world class.
The Pulitzer hotel sits just off Plaça Catalunya and their terrace is a large and verdant space of copious greenery, bamboo seating and twinkling lights. Open from 5pm each evening of the summer, you can head here for one of their signature cocktails, created especially for the summer season. Renowned bartender Marc Gomà-Camps has conjured up a unique cocktail list that should have something to suit all tastes.
And for your soundtrack there are both electronic and acoustic offerings, starting May 8th. Come on Wednesdays between 7:30pm and 10pm and you can partake of a free acoustic set from exciting independent pop, electronic and funk acts including Evripidis and his Tragedies, Begun, I Am Dive and Fanny Roz.
And for a less zen approach to your evening’s entertainment, try out the Thursday night DJ sessions, with Barcelona stalwarts like Dj Fra, Kosmos, Sidechains, Thug Ladies and Ginebra on the ones and twos. Or on Friday nights from 11:30pm you’ll be treated to some audio delicacies from DJ Borja Malet. Borja who will be joined on the decks by a whole host of art and film mavericks including MTV presenter Johann Wald and journalist Mikel López-Iturriaga.
Head to the rooftop of the Pulitzer on a balmy Spanish evening and you’ll be hard pushed to find a place on earth that’s closer to heaven.
